Monitoring is an important aspect of operating Nextcloud at scale. It helps to detect issues early, optimize the system and analyze in depth in case of problems.

We do not go into detail on how to set up monitoring, but provide an overview of important aspects to monitor.

There are many monitoring solutions available and while we don't want to officially recommend or support tools, we would like to provide some hints on tools that have been successfully used for monitoring Nextcloud in production environments.

In addition to collecting metrics, logs should be monitored for errors and unusual patterns, and alerts should be set up to notify the administrator in case of issues. Aggregating logs from all components in the Nextcloud architecture (e.g. with ELK) can be useful to get a complete picture of the system.
